Michter's Single Barrel 10 Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Michter's, a renowned American whiskey company, has a rich history dating back to 1753 when Swiss Mennonite farmer John Shenk founded the distillery in Schaefferstown, Pennsylvania. Shenk's whiskey was made from rye grain, which was a favourite local crop in the Pennsylvania Blue Mountain Valley where the distillery was located. During the Revolutionary War, General George Washington purchased whiskey from Shenk's to fortify his men as they hunkered down in their camp through the long, brutal winter at Valley Forge. The Michter's Pennsylvania management would later say that Michter's was "the whiskey that warmed the American Revolution." In the mid-1800s, Pennsylvania Dutchman Abraham Bomberger purchased the distillery and it became known as Bomberger's. However, the passage of Prohibition in 1919 forced the distillery, along with other American spirits producers, to shut its doors to the public. Although the distillery did reopen after the repeal of Prohibition, it changed hands many times over the next few decades and frequently occupied a precarious financial position. In 1989, with the entire American whiskey industry suffering a prolonged downturn, Michter's then-owners declared bankruptcy and abandoned the premises, leaving its Pennsylvania operations in disrepair and the Michter's name seemingly lost to history. However, in the 1990s, Joseph J. Magliocco and his consultant and mentor Richard "Dick" Newman teamed up to resurrect Michter's. Magliocco and Newman made their first major strategic decision to resurrect Michter's in Kentucky, in the heart of the modern American whiskey industry, to ensure access to the best whiskey talent and resources available. Today, Michter's has three locations in Kentucky, including a 78,000 square foot distillery in the Shively section of Louisville, the architecturally significant Fort Nelson Building on Louisville's Museum Row and 205 acres of farm land in Springfield. Michter's is renowned for producing the best whiskey possible and they continue to honour the Michter's legacy by offering the greatest American whiskey. Bottled at a strength of 94.4 proof (47.2% Alcohol by Volume), this bourbon is aged in fire-charred, new American white oak barrels, imparting a rich and complex flavour profile, with big and bold dark toffee and caramel, charred oak, maple syrup, vanilla on the palate.

Bruichladdich Octomore 13.1 Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky

While some prefer Port Charlotte, you have to admit Octomore is rarely ever boring. We're now into the lucky thirteens of what is arguably the most heavily peated whisky in regular production. There are three variants on offer in this batch. 13.1 is a 5 year old (as usual), bourbon-barreled, and peated to 137.8ppm of phenols. Distilled in 2016 from a 2015 harvest, like all the other .1 editions, it's made using Scottish mainland barley. 59.2% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Toasting and celebrating American Whiskey History with this outstanding small batch 108 proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. This 2023 release continues the Bomberger's tradition of offering bold and beautiful 108 proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon with a rich and layered complexity due to a portion of the bourbon being aged in Chinquapin (Quercus muehlenbergii) oak. The Chinquapin oak utilized for the aging was naturally air dried and seasoned for three years before being toasted and charred to the exacting specifications of our Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson. In addition, some malted rye was used in the production of this bourbon. This is a bold and rich whiskey featuring its signature fruit and spice coupled with rich molasses and a complex, lingering finish that gives you something to savour. Rich mahogany in colour the nose is full of dark fruit accompanied by nuts and burnt caramel. On the palate you will find an exceptional whiskey that opens with deep rich molasses giving way to layers of dried fruit and transitioning into rich chocolate and a warm long baking spice finish.

Talisker 10 Year Old Scotch Whisky

Talisker is one of Scotland's remotest distilleries which produces a dram with trademark smoothness. Their 10 year old has a powerful peat and sea-salt nose; smoky sweetness with malt flavours and developing warmth with a huge, peppery finish. Hobart Whisky Ex-Sherry Matured Laphroaig Finished Single Malt Whisky

Hobart Whisky is a family-owned distillery based in Hobart, Tasmania, and their philosophy is entirely based around making whisky for them, that they love, and want to share. Established in 2014 early distillations were done with a wash from local brewery Moo Brew. In 2017 they were able to set up our brewing and fermentation system which has been utilised since. Production is done solely on a locally manufactured 1800L Knapp Lewer copper pot still. Each run is considered individually with cut decisions based purely on scent and taste. It’s all about the perfect control of the product and telling a story. Hobart Whisky predominantly mature their spirit in American oak ex-bourbon casks. This decision was made for a number of reasons, primarily, the ex-bourbon gives a great opportunity to impart their favourite flavours and characteristics in to the whisky. They have found a lot of success in matured in ex-bourbon and then finishing in other casks including fortified and wine casks, among other things. This allows to ensure the whisky matures and is balanced without picking up too many tannins, being too cask driven yet youthful. This limited release is a marriage of small carefully selected American oak ex-bourbon casks. The spirit from these barrels is then given a finishing period in barrels that matured sherry and also barrels that held Laphroaig peated whisky. The result is a whisky a whisky that has the ability to show tropical fruits and toffee but also show dark fruits and a slight nuttiness with the added satisfaction of a hint of Laphroaig peat.

Kilchoman Small Batch Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Kilchoman Distillery was established in 2005 and is true to Islay's rich farm distilling heritage. The distillery uses local peat cut in the traditional way, slowly distilling all spirits by hand, allowing maturation to occure in traditional dunnage warehouses, and bottling on site without any colouring or chill-filtration. This small batch vatting combines bourbon and oloroso sherry matured Kilchoman with specially selected shaved, toasted & re-charred (STR) red wine casks, bottled non-chill filtered at natural cask strength at 48.7%. A combination of 75% Bourbon, 20% red wine and 5% sherry casks. The result is a marriage of classic Kilchoman citrus and peat smoke with layers of red fruits, cinnamon sweetness, and fresh vanilla. The nose is classic Kilchoman citrus-sweet notes and warming peat smoke balanced alongside elegant yet rich fruit-forward tones. On the palate flavours start with toasted oak before they make way for raisin and fig, with a rich nuttiness. Th finish is lingering maritime peat smoke is matched with an abundance of spice and nutmeg.

Kilchoman Loch Gorm Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Kilchoman Distillery was established in 2005 and is true to Islay's rich farm distilling heritage. The distillery uses local peat cut in the traditional way, slowly distilling all spirits by hand, allowing maturation to occure in traditional dunnage warehouses, and bottling on site without any colouring or chill-filtration. Named after a famously dark and peaty loch overlooked by the distillery, Loch Gorm is a sherry cask single malt matured exclusively in oloroso casks, extracting the rich spicy character of the European oak as it ages in Kilchoman's Islay warehouses. All Kilchomans casks come from the renowned bodega, Jose Miguel Martin. It is common for distilleries to use a variety of sherry producers but for consistent quality and character, Kilchoman purchase them all from just one bodega. The 2023 edition of Loch Gorm features whisky from a parcel a total of 22 casks, matured for a minimum of 8 years. 8 of these casks were distilled in 2013, 6 distilled in 2014, and 8 distilled in 2015. A combination of sherry butts and hogsheads are used to provide 2 different styles of maturation. These ex-oloroso sherry casks impart a combination of heavy sherry notes, spicy dark chocolate, rich fruits and burnt sugar. This balances beautifully with the Kilchoman peat smoke and citrus fruits found within our farm crafted spirit. The nose has hints of cacao with an essence of leather, black cherry and light smoke. On the palate flavours of roasted hazelnuts, dark chocolate and roasted dark fruits give way to light ashy peat smoke with a long balanced finish with a fresh Islay sea breeze.
