From a historic vineyard on the banks of the Hunter River, widely regarded as the birthplace of Hunter Valley wine. The 2021 lures you in with spicy pineapple, peach and green mango aromas. A melding of tangy lemon and cashew nut flavours fill the palate, with crisp acidity giving a refreshing finish. Richness without high alcohol. Pooles Rock Chardonnay gives refreshing zesty flavours, lime juice, lemon zest, lemon grass, green melon, kiwi fruit with a lingering mineral line down the palate, a fresh mouth-watering aftertaste.

From one of Australia's oldest wine regions, the Hunter Valley. This chardonnay shows why it has become the most grown grape in the region. Subtle Aromas of vanillan oak with a hint of pear. A rich fruit palate combined with creamy texture from the oak, peaches linger in the clean finish.

In the glass: Vibrant pale yellow. On the nose: Ripe melon fruit and vanillin oak. On the palate: Shows clean stonefruit intensity with pineapple and tropical depth, lovely oak harmony, creamy flavour balance, juicy acidity and a grapefruit-like cut on the finish.

The grapesfor this wine were picked from our 40 year old vines grown in the volcanic soilof the ancient Fordwich Sill. These low yielding mature vines produce ripe, concentrated fruitwhich results in a wine with excellent regional and varietal characters.

These Chardonnay grapes were grown using sustainable organic practices. The 2017 vintage had a cool year start with a very hot finish allowing the grapes to ripen with lots of flavour and natural acidity. The harvest produced quite small berries which resulted in very intense flavours. About 30% of the wine was matured in oak barrels for up to 4 months and then blended with the balance of the batch.
