The Sandpiper range is named after the migratory bird which visits the Thorn Clarke vineyards annually from the northern hemisphere - something of a reminder of the tenacity and commitment which is required for long term viticulture. Expect classic Cabernet characters of blackcurrant, plums and a hint of tomato leaf and driven by blackberry, satsuma plums and anise. The tannins are fine yet firm and there is a powerful fruit density. Truly 2019 will sit alongside the greatest vintages the Barossa has seen this century.

As is the Greenock Creek tradition, this wine will reward patience and cellaring, while being deliciously approachable as a young wine. Plum & mulberry drive through the palate and linger long on the finish.

This Grant Burge Barossa Ink Cabernet Sauvignon is intensely deep red with purple hues. The bouquet is rich with blackcurrant, mint and dark chocolate. The textural palate has fine tanning, and excellent persistence with intense chocolate and berry flavours. A deeply coloured wine with great depth and varietal definition. This wine has been carefully blended with vibrant, flavour packed parcels of premium Barossa wine to create a Cabernet Sauvignon so bold and dark in colour, it's almost ink.

Vintage Conditions2017 vintage was set by a near-perfect growing season with a long-awaited wet winter and rainfall well above the long-term average. One of the wettest spring seasons on record minimised the risk of frost damage. Cooler than average spring and summer temperatures ensured a long, slow growing season and allowed intense flavour development and retention of natural grape acidity. Harvest was two weeks later than normal as a result of late January and early February rainfall.Vineyard Selection The Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from a selection of parcels from Block 1A and Block 5 of from our estate vineyard.Winemaking Once the grapes have been identified to be of optimum maturation and flavour ripeness, the parcels are brought into the winery where they are destemmed and crushed into the open-topped fermenters. Manual pump-overs are conducted twice daily to provide extraction of colour, flavour and tannin. Towards the end of fermentation, the wine is drained and then pressed to a combination of 58% new French and American oak barrels for 20 months maturation. Careful barrel selection takes place before the wine is blended. The wine is neither fined, nor filtered. Cat Amongst The Pigeons has been ruffling a few feathers in recent years with its value-for-money full-bodied Barossa Shiraz which continues to delivery on quality and price. Their Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon is a worthy stable-mate with fruit sourced from low-yielding vineyards planted on the western slopes of the Barossa Valley; between Lyndoch and Greenock. Dark berry fruits abound with a rich, spicy fruit character. You can certainly enjoy now, but this cat will further develop with some medium-term cellaring.

Hemera Estate Right Bank is a beautiful blend of 16% Cabernet Sauvignon and 39% Merlot grapes with 45% Cabernet Franc grapes. It shows a bright ruby red colour with a violet haze. A swirl of the glass reveals pleasing scents of mulberry, spice, choc-mint, brown spice, plum and delicate earth. The palate is supple and medium-bodied, filled with flavours of dark mint chocolate, cedar spice and red fruits, supported by fine tannins. These magnificent flavours and fragrances combine to end the wine in a clear, elegant and lengthy finish marked by oak dusted berry notes. This delicious red blend has the potential to be cellared for 6 to 8 years from vintage. Pair it with pepper steak, grilled fish and goat cheese to unveil its real fruit potential.
