It presents a smooth glide of flavour, cherry-berry and cedarwood characters to the fore. Its firm through the finish but the fruit keeps pushing through. There are mint notes here, nothing excessive, just enough to add lift. There are mint notes here, nothing excessive, just enough to add lift. Everything is in good order, in other words, the wine's velvety mouthfeel a key feature.

Arila Gardens Gardens of Moppa Shiraz

Deep magenta purple. Aromatic blue and black fruits; boysenberry, blood plum, blackberry, supported by subtle malt cream and notes of Dutch cocoa. Palate: Lively fruit driven frame with loads of upfront berry flavours filling the mouth and continuing through the mid and finish. The oak influence is balanced contributing savoury complexity and texture, allowing regional characters to shine.

Coppabella Procella I Shiraz

Pepper and spice in abundance, over dark cherry/berry fruits. There's a lovely graphite mineral note here too. The palate is medium-bodied and well balanced, finding a natural line of fruit and spice. Viticulture: Hand selected fruit sourced from five clones planted to various aspects, elevations and soil types. Yields were small but flavours were both concentrated and captivating. Winemaking: The fruit was cold soaked for 5 days before being inoculated in open fermenters. The wine was fermented gradually over 12 days then matured in French Puncheons and Hogsheads (25% new) for 12 months.

Mystery Barossa Valley Shiraz Deal No. 38

Whistler Shiver Barossa Valley Shiraz

Bursting with blackcurrant and blueberries, this wine shows the typical characters found in the Western side of the Barossa- chocolate/mocha and black pepper, but with a surprising freshness to the wine. Frankincense and blackberries jump out of the glass, along with a slight leafiness, which comes from the whole bunch component in the wine. Soft and juicy on the palate, but with a backbone of tannin from the whole bunches that draws the wine across the palate giving it length and precision.
