Grenache

Bekkers Grenache

Bekkers Grenache McLaren Vale Sourced from three distinct vineyards of varying personality owning to rocky outcrops to ancient beach sands. Picked by hand, the fruit is vinified with 20% whole bunches and cold soaked for 5-6 days before natural fermentation and being basket pressed to aged French oak 500L puncheons. This produces bright ruby wine with a nose of red fruits and five-spice followed by a palate of red cherry and tobacco with ripe grippy tannins. ...a fine-wine beacon for the Vale.Halliday Wine Companion

Heirloom Alcala McLaren Vale Grenache

Beguilingly light in colour it has an intensely lifted aromaticity. Primary fruits of raspberry, confectionary, yet then a tantalizing and balancing off-sweet aroma that is more meaty and savoury than sweet. Berry fruit flavours are subtly seasoned with oak's spice, before the mid palate is refreshed with cooling acidity. The acidity carries the wine's flavours through to the palate's end. Heirloom Vineyards was conceived in vintage 2000, when a young winemaking student caught the eye of a silly old wine judge. A love story ensued inspired by two vows: To preserve the best of tradition, the old world of wine and our unique old vineyards and to champion the best clones of each variety planted in the most appropriate sites embracing the principals of organic and biodynamic farming. Seven long vintages of trial and error passed before Heirloom Vineyards could make a wine that was fine enough to pass on to future generations. That is this wine.

Penfolds Bin 21 Grenache

Grenache in all its glory. Red fruits proudly lead the charge: raspberries, cranberries and pomegranate. Fragrant coulis on a summer berry pudding. Ferric notes of steel wool and cordite allude to the iron-rich clay soil upon which the vines prosper in the Barossa Valley. Charcuterie aromas of Jamón ibérico and Mojama dry cured tuna notes add an interesting slightly saline nuance. Rubbed olive leaves, sumac spice and ginger peel aromas round out a very enticing nose. Penfolds Bin 138 SGM

2016 Penfolds Bin 138 Shiraz Grenache Mataro 750ml is a delicate blend from the Barossa Valley wine region. Christmas cake aromas are evident on the nose and the palate is textured with an old Barossa disposition. A lengthy finish make this blend particularly enjoyable. Medium deep colour. Lovely juicy blackberry, dark plum aromas with ginger, savoury oak notes. Generous and polished in structure with dark plum, blackberry, ginger flavours, fine looseknit slinky textures and underlying roasted walnut, mocha notes. Finishes chocolaty and long with bitter sweet notes. A really attractive wine with lovely density and vinosity. Really great to drink soon, to take advantage of the ripe youthful and buoyant fruit, but should keep for quite a while developing an earthy complexity. Andrew Caillard MW93 Points

Torbreck The Steading

The 2015 Steading has a fragrancy, purity of fruit, mid-palate concentration and savoury tannin profile that makes it an exemplary wine. Vibrant aromas of violet, star anise hints of violet and spice all unfold to reveal an impressive array of underlying fruit flavours. Silky, succulent dark fruits, black olive, savoury earth, liquorice and Asian spice. These complex yet elegant flavours are all neatly interwoven with a perfect balance of acidity and supple, silky tannins. The 2015 Steading will continue to develop with time in the cellar, and provide those with patience great enjoyment well into the next decade.
