Frankland Estate Olmo's Reward, named after Dr Harold Olmo who first identified viticultural potenital of the isolated Frankland River region, is an elegant blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot and small components of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The concentrated palate has fine grained tannins, dark chocolates and savoury earthy notes leading to a generous and long finish.

Taken from the pristine terra rossa over limestone soils in Wrattonbully, this Cabernet Sauvignon shows the trademark bright fruit and deep flavours associated with the region. The cool air flow and long sunshine hours in this area provides extended ripening and hence complexity. Lashings of blackcurrant on the palate are complemented by lengthy, fine grained tannins and hints of cedar oak from twelve months ageing in French oak.

Pressed to tank to complete malo then spent 18 Months in French oak barriques. 25% new. Balance seasoned to allow the fruit to still be the primary character in the wine.Fruit was machine harvested over 2 nights in late March. De-stemmed only then allowed to run a cool maceration for 13 days to capture the lifted aromatics.

This is an uncompromising dark red wine shows lifted concentrated aromas of red berry conserve, with dashes of earthy undertones. The rich, full bodied silky palate is balanced with some spicy mocha oak tannins.

Our 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon has an intense crimson colour. The nose reveals aromas of mixed spices, dark fruits, and toasty French oak. The palate is deep and powerful; showing a ripe spectrum of red to dark fruits combined with star anise, clove, and allspice. The finish is incredibly long, with firm but fine tannins. We consider our 2010 vintage to be the most complete and complex Cabernet Sauvignon produced at Woodlands.
