Cabernet Sauvignon

Robert Oatley Limited Release Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon

Bremerton Walter Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2014 Walters Reserve Cabernet is a powerful yet elegant wine, showing gorgeous varietal notes of blackberry, bramble and earth, complemented by subtle influences of chocolate and savoury nuances. The wine is supported by a fine, defining, elegant tannin structure and shows spice and complexity from the careful use of new French oak. This wine is very secretive as it takes its time to reveal itself, a powerful wine that will not only evolve in the glass but will reward you with patience in the cellar. Bremerton Wines & Bremerton Vineyards are part of the Willson family owned company, Bremerton Vintners Pty Ltd, in the geographical region of Langhorne Creek in South Australia. Langhorne Creek is unique in that it sits on the rich soil of the Bremer River flood plain and is known as a cool climate region, relatively disease free and a producer of exceptionally high and consistent quality fruit. Fresh cool evening breezes from Lake Alexandrina provide a microclimate of mild to warm summer days and cool evenings, perfect for the long ripening of the grapes producing intense and sought after cool climate flavours. The area was first settled in the 1850's when Frank Potts, an English shipwright, took up a track of land and planted grapes. The district grew to 450 hectares of vineyard until 1990 when expansion began, taking it to approx. 6000ha the second largest grape growing region in South Australia. Today the range can vary up to 18 wines, a third of which are exclusive to the Cellar Door and Bremerton Wine Society. Now with 120 ha of high quality vineyards and a modern winery, our wine production has increased from 680 dozen in 1993 to 23,000 dozen in 2005 and now fluctuates between 34-40,000 dozen. Sales cover all major states of Australia with exports to the UK, Hong Kong, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Singapore, Brazil, the Netherlands, China, Philippines and Dubai.

Parker Estate Terra Rossa Cabernet Sauvignon

Parker Estate Terra Rossa Cabernet Sauvignon is a Coonawarra Cabernet that always looks classy. Big rich cassis, blackberry and raspberry fruit ripple with an appealing suggestion of leafiness. The very best oak is always used for Parker's wines and that is evident again with fine integrated influence of French oak that delivers a balanced cedar and cigar box finish.

Mayacamas Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon

MAYACAMAS VINEYARDS Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley Not much has changed by way of production since Bob Travers started the Mayacamas estate in the early 1940s. The fruit is handpicked early, often in early September - abvs usually end up between 13 and 14 percent to preserve natural, altitude derived acidities. Fermentations occur predominantly in open-top cement vessels which were built in the 1950s, again to preserve acidities and vibrant fruit character. Extended ageing occurs exclusively in neutral oak some as old as 100 years typically for three years which allows the vineyard's expression to shine through the powerful fruit profile, while also minimising oxygenation and helping to maintain the powerful and tight tannin structure Mayacamas is so famous for. The wines then usually spend a further two years in bottle before it is ready to be released to the market. Mayacamas make wines that lie in stark contrast to the more prevalent rich, heavily oaked, high in abv, bombastic wines that are common in the Napa Valley.

Chateau Pichon Longueville de Lalande

Thrust and power married to suppleness. New oak a feature in 2015, but richness does well to mitigate. Paulliac personified, it feels. Dark berries, currants and black olive scents, overlay of clove and mahogany wood character adding depth to the bouquet. Richer than expected to taste, quietly powerful, saturates palate with dark, plummy fruit, well-meshed cedary-clove spice, pepper and graphite-tannins. Coursing, gently powerful wine that builds in intensity. An approachable wine now, you could say. A fuller expression. Mike Bennie The Wine Front 94 Points

Blind Corner Wilyabrup Bernard Cabernet Sauvignon

Château Valandraud Saint-Émilion

This release continues the great run of vintages from this estate, based in the eastern part of Saint-Emilion. Powerful tannins are echoed by sumptuous black-plum and berry flavors. The high alcohol shows in the density although this concentrated wine does stay comfortably in balance. It needs plenty of aging. Don't drink before 2027. Roger Voss Wine Enthusiast 97 Points
