Smoked rosemary on the nose is followed by a hit of cigar box and pencil lead on the attack. There's excellent quality on display here, with well-judged body and mid-palate, and great persistency, although it's pulled up by a shot of acidity on the finish - something that will not be as evident with food. This is well filled out through the mid-palate, with some clear menthol notes on the finish. We are in signature Médoc territory here, with plenty of lift and juice in the fruit still. Born and bred in Margaret River, Evans & Tate Redbrook Cabernet Sauvignon is a wonderful, classic expression of the regions famed Cabernets. Textural and expertly structured, it is aged in minimum new French oak to lend a lightly spiced character. Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva is ruby red in colour. The nose shows intensely fruity notes of ripe cherries, red currants, and wild berry fruit along with well integrated notes of toasted oak and tobacco, and a touch of balsamic sensations. The palate is ample and enveloping, savory, soft in its tannins and velvety in texture. The finish and aftertaste are long and persistent. Antinori is a name synonymous with wine in Italy, the equivalent of the royal family of wine in the country. Intimately involved in the wine industry of Italy since 1385, initially in Tuscany, but in more recent years their influence has grown seeing them involved in wine-making projects across the country. They were instrumental in the renaissance of Chianti and their portfolio of wines includes some stellar names such as Tignanello - the Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc blend that was most influential in the Super Tuscan movement, Solaia - the Cabernet dominant blend also from the Tignanello Estate and the beautiful Peppoli Chianti Classico.

His upland vineyard raises fruit of rare elegance without losing any of its perfumed intensity. Lithe tannins underlie a strap of lively blackberry, and perfect amounts of sinew, flesh and bright acidity guarantee a highly rewarding decade or two.
