Yangarra started introducing large format foudre in 2017, and a single block of Shiraz (block 12) started to show its head with a particular style that was very much suited to whole bunch and large format oak. Originally labelled as the "Whole Bunch" Shiraz, the label evolved to become the King's Wood with the first release only in 2017... and what an introduction it was scoring 99 points from James Halliday. The 2019 vintage is excellent. A rare mix of power and restraint. The palate is captivating with its plush, supple, velvety nature. All of the elements are perfectly integrated. Special.

A second vodka from Belvedere with a focus on 'terroir' is the Lake Bartezek Rye. Made from the same Dankowskie Diamond rye grain as the Smogory forest edition, but grown on a different Polish estate, according to the producers, the intention here is to highlight “The influence of the distinct soil, topography and climate... When sampled side by side, the two vodkas deliver two completely different taste profiles.” 40% Alc./Vol.

This savoury Pinot Noir is the result of an assemblage of twelve individual batches sourced from our Maroondah Highway vineyard. Subtle aromas of rhubarb, violets, earth, chervil, mace, leather, pencil shavings & cocoa nib with a stemmy note contributed by fermention with stalks. The composed elegant palate exhibits strawberry, tamarind & peach stone tartness from ingrained natural acidity, softly spreading fruit weight & sweeping talc-like tannins.

In 1858, Madame Pommery took over as head of Pommery & Greno after the death of her husband. She based the expansion of her House on the creation of wines unlike any others, with one constant demand: quality pushed to the extreme. In matters of taste she was ahead of her time. Produced with fruit from 40 selected villages in the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims and other areas in the Champagne region where the liveliness and delicacy of the chardonnay grape is enhanced by the climate. This champagne is a plate yellow colour with light green highlights. The nose is delicate but generous, lively, fresh, and fine. The palate small assertive notes of red fruits. A delicate, rich, and rounded wine left lingering in the mouth. A clear taste with no dryness.

The Adelina vineyards are situated in Spring Farm Valley, just south of the township of Clare. Hand-picked, the Estate Shiraz fruit is detemmed and mildly crushed, fermentation and maceration occurs over approx 35 days and the wine is pressed to barrel for malo and maturation.

This Levantine Hill Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is redolent with blackberry, blackcurrant and cocoa-rich chocolate on the nose. Followed by the supple, balanced middle palate evokes truffle, bramble and earthy complexity on the palate. An outstanding example of site and region, its chewy, satisfying tannins are beautifully integrated with fleshy fruit characters, hedonic spice and lingering, persistent length.
