Coonawarra blockbuster, the Katnook Prodigy Shiraz is a wonderful example of supreme Coonawarra Shiraz. Savoury spice and dark berry fruits with a hint of white pepper. An elegant wine with medium intensity and great length.

We’ve now seen two vintages of this ripper deal fly out the door. For those in the know, this wine never disappoints upon pulling the cork. This cellar release may have eight years of development behind it, but give it a taste and you’ll see that it is only starting to touch its prime drinking window. This wine is usually exclusive to the producer’s database, but somehow our charming wine buyers have managed to get some for the site.

Each vintage Wynns select a premium parcel from a single vineyard to bottle separately. This year the selection is from the Glengyle vineyard, creating a true wine of stature. The flavours a beautifully fresh, echoing crunchy red berries and intriguing gentle florals. This wine is finely polished and focused in structure, with great persistence and intensity giving the impression of a wine that is layered, flowing and building all at once. A true wine of stature and iconic status.

'Black Label' Cabernet Sauvignon, which was first vintaged in 1954, has evolved markedly over the decades. It is arguably Australia's most recognised Cabernet Sauvignon, and has more than any other, helped define Coonawarra. The wine is matured in new and seasoned French oak for 12 to 18 months. A classic Coonawarra Cabernet with pristine dark berry/ cassis aromas, fine grained tannins and underlying savoury nuances, it develops into a rich, chocolaty wine with age. In a super vintage, this wine can look astonishingly like a 2nd or 3rd growth Bordeaux with its pure cassis aromas and cedary complexity. Katnook Odyssey is one of the superstars of the Coonawarra galaxy, produced only from the finest fruit and in the top years. The best oak is lavished on Odyssey, and is absorbed by the rich, dense fruit with ease. 5 years+ in our programme and the oak integration is complete, the tannins softened and the texture silken. A special occassion wine at the best of times, the 2013 vintage is still improving and should retain its best attributes for another ten years.

Rated 96 points by James Halliday, Brands Laira 171 Cabernet Sauvignon is cassis driven and complex. It is full-bodied with well integrated tannins on the palate. This is a remarkably young Cabernet, which will age gracefully with suitable cellaring condition.
