Fruit for the Flagship 171 is sourced from the number one block of Cabernet Sauvignon, which was planted in 1971 on the famous Terra Rossa soils adjacent to Coonawarra Township. Bin 128 explores savoury notes and deep Coonawarra complexity.With each vintage release the cool-climate Bin 128 Coonawarra Shiraz provides an interesting counterpoint to the more opulent and richly concentrated warm climate Bin 28 Shiraz. Bin 128 comprises fruit sourced from the unique terra rossa soils of Coonawarra, a region that exemplifies the perfume, transparency and seductive nature of cool-climate red table wines. Coonawarra has remained the source of shiraz fruit for Bin 128 since the inaugural release of the 1962 vintage. In order to further enhance the regional qualities of Bin 128, the wine is matured in a mixture of new and seasoned French oak hogsheads, élevage that was refined during the 1980’s when the transition was made from American to French oak.

V&A Lane Shiraz showcases a contrasting wine style from one of the most beloved grape varietals. A purposely early harvest to highlight a fresh red fruit spectrum, naturally lower alcohol, whole bunch inclusion, wild ferments, and the use of larger oak for maturation are just some of the techniques employed to make these beautiful food friendly wines. Bright cherry and blueberry complement more savoury elements of stalks, pastry, and spice. There is a light yet expansive quality to the palate. The pure fruits flow through to lingering crushed pepper and a biscuity finish.

Wynns Harold was the first Wynns single vineyard wine from 2001 vintage. The 2013 marks its second single vineyard release. Harold vineyard ripened evenly giving the wine the freshness and delicacy to age. Given the right conditions, this Cabernet Sauvignon will be a great gem in the cellar.

Rated 96 points by James Halliday, Brands Laira 171 Cabernet Sauvignon is cassis driven and complex. It is full-bodied with well integrated tannins on the palate. This is a remarkably young Cabernet, which will age gracefully with suitable cellaring condition.
