Clos de Gamot Cahors Le Gamotin red

Vasse Felix Tom Cullity Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec

Fat Bastard Malbec

Medium purple hue. Ripe blackberry & black cherry with hints of fresh tobacco. Upfront, it is all juicy and dark fruited - ripe plum, tangy blueberry with a touch of ribena sweetness - but to follow, a hint of smoky cured meatiness and fine chalky tannin serve to make the finish savoury yet muy refrescante. Fermented in open stainless steel vats on skins for 14 days. Gentle pressing off skins via airbag press. The brainchild of Guy Anderson and Thierry Boudinaud, Fat Bastard Wines came into being via an exclamation, "Now that is what you call a Fat Bastard!" The comment came in response to a barrel of experimental Chardonnay that Thierry had left on lees for an extended maturation. Both Guy and Thierry felt that the wines had to be shared with the world, and so Fat Bastard Wines was born. Now, the pair work with wineries and vineyards from all over the world, sourcing fruit and juice from a myriad different regions and countries. But one factor remains the same: they make unapologetically full-bodied wines, packed with flavour and vibrancy.

El Payador Malbec

El Payador is a contemporary and fruit driven Argentinian Malbec created in partnership with third generation Mendoza winemaker Jorge Daniel Falasco. The Falasco family owns 3,000 hectares of vineyards in many of the prime locations, including in the ‘Uco Valley’ which is 1,100 metres above sea level and offers a perfect micro-climate for producing fresh fruit driven wines.A ripe and expressive nose of cherries, raspberries and fresh citrus with subtle notes of spicy oak. The palate is medium bodied with vibrant red berry flavours framed by rounded tannins and savoury complexity. An impressively long, dry finish. Perfect with a protein hit like a chargrilled rib-eye with peppercorn sauce.

Lagarde Bodega Lagarde Guarda Malbec DOC Single Vineyard

Lagarde Guarda Malbec DOC Single Vineyard 2015 VINEYARDS: Luján de Cuyo Mendoza. Planted in 1906 (Drummond). AGING: 100% of the wine, 12 months in French oak barrels. DOC stands for denominacion de origen controlado in Spanish so a consumer can identify exactly where the item they wish to purchase is from. The only wines in Argentina supervised by the government are the top 10% of wines produced in the country called the Vinos Finosâ. It is rare to find labelled DOC Argentine wines at wine tastings in Argentina, simply because there are not that many of them In Argentina, the only two sub-regions with a DOC attached (denominacion de origen controlado), Lujan De Cujo and San Rafael, both in Mendoza. Lujan de Cujo and Maipu are known as the primera zonaor premium winemaking area, throughout history having the best wines of Argentina. Bodega Lagarde is one of the oldest family wineries in Argentina. The Lagarde Malbec DOC is one of Argentinas most iconic premium single vineyard Malbec with 100+ year old vines. The vineyard was planted in 1906 and is located 900 metres above sea level, at the birthplace of Malbec in Mendoza, just at the foot of the Andes Mountains. This has been made with the most uncompromising attention to detail imaginable. To put it into context, hail is prevalent at this altitude and often destroys the crops. The winery refuses to use hail nets to make this wine as they interfere with the maturation of the grapes. In other words, they are willing to take what nature hands out to make the best wines possible, even if its taking the risk of losing everything. This is truly a stunning wine, silky tannins, rich cherries and plums, chocolate, right level of oak influence and just delicious. Tasting Notes: Red cherries, strawberry jam, chocolate, vanilla and smoke. Tannins are well integrated, good structure, ultra-smooth Malbec. A proud icon of Argentine Malbec

An unusual medium-bodied wine, where the red fruits and pepper spice of cool-climate South Australian Shiraz complements the dark fruits of Malbec in the blend. Grown on Terra Rossa over Limestone soils that provide the structure and good natural acidity for medium term cellaring.

Bodega Catena Zapata Catena Malbec

The Catena wines are a special assemblage of High Mountain Estate Vineyards made by fourth generation vintner, Laura Catena and chief winemaker, Alejandro Vigil. Although we have found that most of the Catena wines are consumed shortly after release, we are pleased to see that they age beautifully for ten to twenty years. Through decades of study and exploration within Mendoza's high altitude mountain terroirs, the Catena family has identified special locations for its Estate vineyards. From the marriage of these historic vineyards emerges a wine of unique character that has natural balance, concentration and a distinct varietal identity. In 1898, Nicola Catena left his homeland of Italy, and sailed for the land of plenty and opportunity: Argentina. It wasn't long before Nicola planted his first Malbec vineyard in Mendoza in 1902. Although traditionally used as a blending grape in Bordeaux, Nicola believed in the potential of Malbec as a single varietal wine, and suspected that it might uncover its hidden splendour in the cooler climes of the Andes. Flash forward a few decades, to where Nicola's grandson, Nicolas Catena Zapata, has taken over the management of the business. He sold off the bulk producing parts of the company, focusing instead on producing premium Mlabec and Cabernet. To that end, he began searching for the best sites in Mendoza to plant. In 1992, he settled on Gualtallary Alto - the highest and moste Western part of Tupungato. Today, the wines of Bodega Catena Zapata are sourced from six historic estate vineyards: Angélica, La Pirámide, Nicasia, Domingo, Adrianna and Angélica Sur.
