The name of the winery was then changed to 'Cantina Pertinace', and in January 2016, the number of members increased to 20, with a total of 110 hectares under vines (mainly Nebbiolo, but also Dolcetto, Barbera d’Alba, Moscato and Chardonnay) and production of 650,000 bottles. Since 1973, the winery has never stopped developing and growing. Cantina Pertinace wines are part of traditional Piedmont winemaking at its purest - from care of the vineyards, looked after personally by the contributing members, to the winemaking and ageing processes, the production of Barbaresco, Nebbiolo d’Alba, Dolcetto and Barbera d’Alba is oriented towards a classic, elegant style. Production and refining areas of the wines reflect the traditional philosophy such as tall stainless steel tanks contrasting with aisles of great 40 to 105 hectolitre wooden casks where ageing occurs in cool, quiet half-light. All crus are produced following the same rules without exception as they rest in great casks for 18 months. Despite their similar gestation processes, the resultant wines have very different personalities, strongly influenced by the differences in terroir and constant care and great attention to detail in the vineyards. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014, the vineyards of Langa, Roero and Monferrato are, to quote the words of the World Heritage List, an outstanding living testimony to winegrowing and winemaking traditions that stem from a long history. The 110 hectares of vineyard are scattered throughout Treiso, Barbaresco, Alba, Neviglie, Piobesi d’Alba and Magliano Alfieri in Cuneo Province, and Agliano Terme in Asti Province. The Langhe Arneis is made with grapes coming from vineyards in Treiso. The vineyards have a southerly aspect and acreage of 2.5 hectares. This wine undergoes temperature controlled vinification for 10-12 days in steel tanks followed by a 5 month ageing period in stainless steel on lees. A straw yellow with greenish shades and vibrant fruity aromas of pears and exotic fruits, white flowers and citrus hints. The palate is fresh, soft and elegant.

Adelaide-born Dave Fletcher is a self confessed Nebbiolo addict. So much so that shortly after falling in love with Nebbiolo in 2006, Dave moved to Piedmonte in 2007 to explore his passion for Nebbiolo, and has since produced an outstanding range that is both characteristic of the Piedmont region and innovative in itself. Time spent making wine and absorbing local knowledge at Ceretto have only served to deepen his love of the region and it’s great wines. Now the proud owner of, and making wine in the old train station in Barbaresco, Dave’s passion has reached its pinnacle, and the wines show it! Produced in very small quantities, we are very excited to have a small allocation this year. Under the Cantina Della Stazione label, Dave Fletcher has produced a joyously succulent Dolcetta d'Alba. From 65 years old vines in San Rocco (Alba). Dave owns 1 hectare of vineyard, organically managed. Fully destemmed, fermented and aged in seasoned Burgundy barriques for 8 months. Unfined and unfiltered. Bright aromatics of cherry, plum and mulberry lead to flavours of tangy dark-stone fruits with a twist of herbaceous and earth notes. The finish is long and juicy with sleek tannins and abundant texture.

An unoaked, dry, medium bodied white wine with crisp acidity, the Arneis is well-balanced, elegant wine with good complexity and a lingering finish. Pale straw yellow colour. 100% Arneis The history of the Vietti winery traces its roots back to the 19th Century. Only at the beginning of the 20th century, however, did the Vietti name become a winery offering its own wines in bottle. From 1919 Patriarch Mario Vietti began making the first Vietti wines, selling most of the production in Italy. His most significant achievement was to transform the family farm, engaged in many fields, into a grape-growing and wine-producing business. Then, in 1952, Alfredo Currado (Luciana Viettis husband) continued to produce high quality wines from their own vineyards and purchased grapes. The Vietti winery grew to become one of the top-level producers in Piemonte and was one of the first wineries to export its products to the USA market. Alfredo was one of the first to select and vinify grapes from single vineyards (such as Brunate, Rocche and Villero). This was a radical concept at the time, but today virtually every vintner making Barolo and Barbaresco wines offers single vineyard or cru-designated wines. Alfredo is also called the father of Arneis as in 1967 he invested a lot of time to rediscover and understand this nearly-lost variety. Today Arneis is the most famous white wine from Roero area, north of Barolo. Setting such a fine example with Arneis, even fellow vintners as far away those on the west coast of the United States now are cultivating and producing Arneis!

This magnificent Barbera is made with the best grapes from an old vineyard. “Gratia Plena” or “full of grace” is therefore a more than appropriate name. Classic vinification with long skin maceration. This topper refines for a total of 7 years before it comes on the market. Part barriques, part large casks and part bottled. A wine with a deep cherry red colour with purple highlights in its youth. Here one can rightly speak of a complex nose with earthy scents and underwood that accompany a fine aroma of forest fruits. The wine is pleasant on the palate with an intense final of fruit and fine acidity, the calling card of a Barbera.

This wine undergoes temperature controlled vinification for 10-15 days in steel tanks followed by a 9-12 month ageing period in Salvonian oak casks. A ruby red with purple and garnet shades and aromas of ripe red fruits with pepper and rosehip lead to a palate that has a hint of spice with soft tannins
