Beautifully refined yet packed full of flavour, Peter Drayton has created another classy Hunter Chardonnay. Vibrant mid yellow. Complex aromas of peach, pear, almond, nougat and flinty oak. A flavour-packed with yet with a classy mix of peach, pear and rockmelon, lovely river rock minerality, touches of marzipan and gun smoke and a complex, savoury finish.

In the glass: Bold straw with a green hue. On the nose: Nectarine and citrus with vibrant and bright lift and freshness.On the palate: Super-ripe and juicy nectarine power delivers long, bold, velvety flavours complemented by the wonderful harmony of deluxe oak giving added complexity.

This is a superb example of the famous Hunter Semillon. Alternate in style and fuller in flavour, with tropical, grassy, lifted characters and a zesty palate. 'Today's selections are all comparatively low in alcohol - light bodied but tasty wines delivering great drinking pleasure. Semillon seems a natural starting point as, along with prosecco and riesling, the variety develops ripe flavours before grape sugar levels (and hence alcohol levels) climb too high. The warm Hunter region excels at the style but sometimes requires cellaring to soften the austere acids. 2022 was a wet season in the Hunter region with over 180 millimetres ofrain in February alone. Mild weather and cooler conditions delayed harvestuntil the sun and welcoming winds dried out the vineyards. All was not lost,as the longer season introduced excellent flavours, natural acids and complexity into the wines. This single vineyard wine from Cael’s Gate was created from vines plantedin 1978. Elegant and restrained, this wine shows lemon peel, lime zest andoatmeal nuances. It is concentrated and finely flowing in the mouthdelivering delicate fruit intensity with linear mouth feel and racy acidity.Firmly structured and focused with an impressively long sleek finish.

Scarborough Yellow Label Chardonnay is sourced from fruit grown on the winery's rich Terra Rossa soil. This helps produce a Chardonnay that is rich and mouth filling with creamy, buttery flavours. Having being left of lees for a minimum of 12 month and going through 100% Malo fermentation, this Hunter Valley Chardonnay is one for those who love an 'old-school' Chardonnay.

Semillon from the Hunter Valley is a distinctive and unique wine. Pale, vibrant and light bodied when young with the potential to develop incredible texture, richness and complexity with bottle age.
