Fast forward 100 years and and several generations and the Pike family has firmly established themselves as one of the premier wine producers in the Clare Valley. This deep red Shiraz is filled with aromas of blackberry and plum intergrated with toasty vanillian oak. This wine seeks to emulate just that style, elegant and yet dense and flavoursome, gentle enough to sit and taste, and great with food.

The Upstarts Shiraz is bursting with the classic things we want to see in the cool, high altitude growing conditions of the Central Ranges. This is a leaner version of Shiraz that's all about elegance and refreshment — unlike many other famous styles of warmer regions. Aromas of white pepper on the nose and mouth-puckering (the good kind) sour plum and boysenberry on the palate all tied up with a pretty floral touch of violet. Refreshing elegance.

Richly textured and supported by subtle French oak char and fine grained tannins, the nose and palate display an elegant infusion of red fruits, liquorice, dried herbs, tar and charcuterie in a long and persistent finish.
