John Duval was the Chief Winemaker at Penfolds from 1986 - 2002, entrusted to make some of Australia's most iconic wines. This traditional old vine blend is a superb expression of the Barossa. Savoury, spice and subtle oak sweetness on the nose lead to smooth, seamless palate laden with plum jam and liquorice fruit.

Grenache has long been a stalwart of the South Australian wine scene and Penfolds have been blending Grenache with Shiraz since the 1950's. Recent years has seen a growing trend for the luscious perfumed styles like those emanating out of the northern Rhône and the Bin 138 produces a brilliant example. Grant Burge's name is synonymous with the Barossa Valley due to this industry veteran's history of producing a wide range of consistently acclaimed full-flavoured wines. His Holy Trinity is bright and vibrant with the Grenache fruit having precision acidity with the whole amalgam being alive with mouth-filling blue fruits, blackberry, aniseed and spice mulled wine. As incredibly cuddly as ever, but with impossibly great density and sheer power, demanding enjoyment now and finishing long and effortless. An absolute thrill ride!

Hand picked from bush vines planted in 1916, this is the quintessential expression of super-premium Barossa Valley Grenache. Rich and concentrated but as smooth as silk! Light to medium red garnet. Raspberry, dark cherry and cedar spice. An earthy, savoury wine with fine yet robust tannins driving the fresh mix of black tea, white pepper, baked earth and dark cherry fruit through to the long, elegant finish.

Spinifex Esprit is a Grenache Mataro blend that has a vibrant, youthful and fresh palate driven by a tangy herb infused line of red fruit red currant, sour red plum, pomegranate and marjoram that gains warmth and depth turning to tobacco, game, cedar and darker fruit to close. Pulpy, fleshy fruit is drawn long with plum skin acids and stony tannins.

A savoury spicy blend aged in seasoned oak. The nose shows plum, raspberry and tarry aromas and the medium bodied palate displays blackberry licorice and rich earthy flavours with fine, supple tannins.

Old vines, big flavour, just what you would expect from his Ebenezer vineyards. The other part - the Shiraz - has come from Redheads' long-time partner in crime John Kalleske over in Koonunga. Bright, lifted red fruit aromas of sweet cherry and plum combined with floral and turkish delight characters. Subtle savoury notes, dark morello cherry and red plum characters. A mid-weight GSM with softly woven tannins.
